Environmental Sustainability

Green Ashes is a green tech startup that focuses on producing sustainable activated carbon using agricultural and forestry waste. Our first prototype of activated carbon is made from dried pine tree leaves, considering that dried pine needles are known to be the main cause of wildfires. Yielding a high adsorption efficiency of over 90%, this new generation of activated carbon is not only more sustainable with reduced carbon footprints and emissions, but also more cost-effective as compared to conventional activated carbon, which is mainly made from coal.  Moving forward, Green Ashes is determined to kill two birds with one stone by alleviating the problem of wildfires while also turning wastes into valuables at the same time.

The growing trend of activated carbon usage in different industries indicates the likelihood of more coal mines being exploited to meet the rising demand. Unless we come up with a new solution, the carbon footprint of the activated carbon production industry would continue to increase, eventually leading the industry to an unsustainable future.

Green Ashes is taking the first step to embrace a new approach, which is to transform the way of activated carbon production into a more sustainable one by fully utilising unwanted agricultural and forestry waste. We help the agricultural and forestry sectors to get rid of their waste and transform them into profitable resources; on one hand, we help activated carbon manufacturers save up carbon quota; on the other, we provide high-quality sustainable activated carbon to buyers. Our ultimate aim is to help these parties to achieve SDGs and fulfil carbon neutrality in the long run.
