Problem
Around 1.5 billion people worldwide are suffering from chronic pain and this imposes tremendous costs on patients, employers, and the health care system. People suffering from chronic pain are less able to exercise properly, to sleep normally or to master their daily life successfully. It leads to a vicious cycle of depression, helplessness, guilt, and increased preoccupation with pain and created multitude of negative behavioral responses like restricted activity, sleep deprivation, and social withdrawal. In Hong Kong, it is estimated that 35% of adults suffer from chronic pain and the highest prevalence are those in the lower income groups with monthly income below HK$ 15,000. Current treatments for chronic pain are simply ineffective (The Lancet) and painkillers proved to potentially cause toxicity, gastrointestinal bleeding, and renal failure.

Solution
With 5 years’ experience in practicing origin point medicine (OPM), Body Activation was developed to automate the proven OPM acupoint massage to relieve body pain using an effective, non-invasive and drug-free therapy.
