Let’s face it. Hair is a nuisance. You have to brush and wash it. It falls in your food or soup. You pay hundreds of dollars cutting and dyeing it. But what practical uses does it have?
We've combed through scientific experiments and research conducted by NASA. The bald fact is that hair has a multitude of uses and we’d like to highlight two major ways we can help society. For example, did you know that your hair can reduce the harmful environmental impacts of oil spill disasters? Hair can also contribute to organic farming as a natural fertilizer and herbicide.
Can hair really do so much?
With the introduction of Hairy Tale, the answer is… YES! These aren’t just hairbrained ideas, we’re for real. So out of these little-known facts, grew a number of hair-raising possibilities to dye for.
Hairy Tale is a social enterprise to explore the ultimate functions of hair (and their extensions) and its opportunities to grow as a business. We collect unwanted human hair that has been carefully selected from local salons. We then process them to make the hair pads, and market them to local/ China organic farms as well as to NGOs as an oil absorbent for harbor and oil spill cleaning. At the same time, we wish to provide employment opportunities to unskilled workers to alleviate the poverty problem in Hong Kong.
