Education

Hunger – War – Disease – Poverty: The underlying cause of all of these global issues is education; either it is from the lack of education or inadequate education. To address these issues, we must first understand the problems we face in educating our next generation. There are two major sources of problem in education. One is from the disproportionate student population relative to universities in education systems across the world. The other is the communication gap between the educator and the parent. Tiger, helicopter, and monster parents who are obsessively concerned about a child’s development arise from these problems with education. Pressure is then applied on an unprepared child and educator. However, recent studies have shown that collaborative communication between the child, parent, and educator is beneficial for the learning experience. Furthermore, the lack of knowledge and skill data inhibits a productive conversation about a child’s performance.

In 2016 alone, Hong Kong witnessed 26 student suicides due to mental, societal, and family pressures. Our goal is to alleviate some of this stress by pinpointing areas of improvement to allow teachers and parents to develop realistic action plans.  Solve for Alpha is a unique mobile platform which provides simple and practical knowledge; and skill data to facilitate productive communication between parents and teachers. Communication is enhanced by data gathered through unobtrusive assessment techniques in gaming, which will support the cognitive development of children in secondary education.
